The weather is getting warm and now is the time when everyone starts checking those “toys” for the summer, such as boats, kayaks, climbing harnesses and backpacking equipment. Also, all animal harnesses, leads and collars must be checked for repair after the winter. For this reason, it becomes a busy time for Country Brook Design. We have all the nylon webbing and hardware that may be needed to keep everything in top condition as well as create new projects that the upcoming summer season inspires.

Nylon webbing is very strong and durable which makes it ideal for equipment that needs to handle a lot of weight. It also must be resistant to abrasion and water. These qualities make it the most important component of many items that can be used in harnesses for climbing, boat rigging, scuba equipment, horse harnesses, dog collars, just to name a few. More projects can be found at Diy Network and HGTV We learned something new when looking on one of those sites – nylon webbing can be used to make a gate for a horse corral and a hay hammock for that corral. The nylon webbing is evidently resistant to chewing too.

Since it is resistant to dampness and water, nylon webbing is also useful in all equipment used on boats, kayaks and in scuba diving. There are many uses and projects described at Scuba Board and Scuba.org, such as bottle harnesses and leads. Boat rigging and strapping for kayaks definitely need the strength, durability and good looks of nylon webbing. Tubular nylon webbing is used for those projects that require flexibility as well as strength. As the name implies, tubular webbing is a nylon hollow tube which makes it softer and more pliable that flat webbing. It is as strong as flat webbing with a tensile strength of approximately 4,000 lbs. in the 1″ width, The outstanding advantage of tubular nylon webbing is that it ties in knots easier than flat nylon webbing. Tubular webbing will hold the knot tighter without slipping. Then when ready to untie the knot, it unties easily – no matter how much pressure was put on the knot. It is also abrasion resistant and very durable which explains why this product is widely used by climbers, skydivers, furniture makers and the military. It is also used for covering hoses, wire or cords.

This week we are highlighting the item that launched Country Brook Design – Handmade Designer Dog Collars. We were breeders of AKC-registered Miniature Pinchers (more about this breed can be found at breedsofdogs.org) and were showing in confirmation and obedience trials. We wanted attractive and eye-catching collars and leashes for our dogs but, because of their miniature size, it was difficult to find what we were looking for. So we decided to make our own designer collars and in 2003, we opened our business which soon grew to the large, thriving company it is today.

We custom-make all of our beautiful designer collars from cotton fabric in many popular patterns, with a nylon webbing core. This makes them soft, durable and safe. A fashionable collar can be custom-made for holidays, special occasions, for a favorite sports team or just a brightly colored abstract or plaid.

What makes our collars special is the core of nylon webbing. Most manufacturers of designer dog collars use polypro webbing, because it is easier to work with and cost about 1/4 of what nylon cost. But, it is a good webbing for projects which do not require strength. Because of its looser weave, polypro webbing has a tensile strength of 600 lbs. in the 1-inch width, and tighter-woven nylon webbing has a tensile strength of 4200 lbs. in the 1-inch width. Nylon webbing keeps its strength and durability for a longer time. Safety is a major concern when making a collar for a pet that is a part of someone’s family and that is why we use nylon webbing in all our collars except for the mini collars. The hardware used in our handmade designer dog collars is another thing that makes our collars special. We use the best contoured plastic side release buckles and heavy-duty triglides from top-quality manufacturers like Nextel and National Molding. In addition, we use only welded dee rings. For those extra large dogs who will have to be tied out or have a history of breaking, collars, we offer a heavy-duty metal side release buckle.

The sewing method of our custom-made dog collars is also one of the reasons they are strong and durable. We use heavy-weighted bonded #69 nylon thread, stronger than polyester, on industrial sewing machines. The fabric is sewn into a tube, then down both sides onto the core of nylon webbing, preventing twisting or shifting. The collars are then box stitched, not just triple-stitched like most commercial collars, at stress points for extra strength. And, surprisingly, they are machine washable.

Any of our Designer dog collars can be made into Martgale collars. Just choose a fabric from our large variety on the left side of the web page under the title Handmade Designer Dog Collars. However, we cannot make them from the Sports and Hobbies category. For the handmade designer collars, we must have the measurement of your dogs neck, which needs to be at least 12 inches for this time of collar. To measure your dog, take a string and put it around the dog’s neck where the collar will sit, then measure the string. Please do not add anything for extra – we will do that.

By using the titles and subtitles on the left side of the page when searching for 1-inch blue nylon webbing, we have reduced the number of pages to look through from 17 pages to 1 page. It will save customers a great deal of time when looking for specific things.

This is also helpful when searching our huge selection of dog collars to find one for certain holidays or for your favorite sports team. Clicking on “Handmade Designer Dog Collars” will expand to subcategories where you will be able to find the perfect collar for your pet quickly.

This week we are shining our spotlight on tubular nylon webbing. This item is comparable in strength to flat nylon webbing, but with some beneficial differences. Tubular nylon webbing is, as the name implies, a nylon hollow tube which makes it softer and more pliable that flat webbing.
